- Windows XP is an operating system just like Windows 98 or
Windows 2000. However being the newest version of windows it does offer
some features that others do not. These include:
- Advanced laptop support including
ClearType support, and better power management
- Built in
wireless support
- Internet Firewall
What is the difference between Windows XP
Pro and XP Home?
- For the most part XP Home and XP Pro
are the same. For most users the differences are not noticeable.
However XP Pro does offer a few features that XP Home does not.
- Remote Desktop. This allows you
to access your files from any other XP Pro system
- IIS Version 5.1
- Offline files and folders
- High level admin tools not
needed for a single user environment
What requirements must my laptop have to run Windows XP?
- 1000 megahertz (MHz) or higher processor Intel
Pentium/Celeron family, AMD K6/Athlon/Duron family or
compatible
processor recommended
- 256 megabytes (MB) of
RAM or higher
recommended (128 MB
minimum supported; may limit performance and some features)
- 1.5 gigabyte (GB) of available
hard drive space.
- Super VGA (800 × 600) or higher resolution video adapter and
monitor
