The first question you must ask is whether or not Cable
Internet/Broadband is available in my area?
Most residential areas in the US do offer
Cable Internet/Broadband through the local cable or satellite company.
Some rural areas unfortunately do not yet have this technology available.

ISP to determine if service is
available in your area.
The second question you must ask is will my computer support Cable
Internet /Broadband?
Most laptops will support Cable Internet
/Broadband however, you will need to contact your
ISP to determine requirements of their
Cable internet/Broadband modem.
What is Cable Internet/ Broadband?
This broadband method uses the local
cable TV line to receive (broadband) Internet content at about 1.5 Mbps.
This data rate far exceeds that of 28.8 and 56 Kbps
telephone modems and of Integrated Services Digital
Network (ISDN) (up to 128 Kbps) and is about the data rate available to subscribers of
Digital Subscriber Line (DSL)
telephone service.
