What is the difference between CD, CDRW, DVD and DVDRW?

What is a CD drive?

A CD drive is used to install programs and games and listen to music.


What is a CD/CDRW drive?

A CD/CDRW does the same as the CD drive but adds the ability to copy information to a CD. (Note: CD burning software will still be needed to use the CDRW function)

What is a CD/DVD drive?

A CD/DVD gives you all the capabilities of a regular CD drive, but it also adds the ability to watch a DVD movie.

What is a CD/CDRW/DVD?

A CD/CDRW/DVD allows you to do all the activities listed above in one drive. This drive is also known as a combo drive.

What is a CD/CDRW/DVD/DVDRW?

This drive is considered the most advanced drive of all. It has the capability of all the above listed drives and adds the feature of allowing you to burn to DVD. (Note: CD/DVD burning software will still be needed to use the CDRW/DVDRW function)
