Video
Memory is memory on the video card itself not to be confused with normal
system memory also called
RAM. Both types of memory provide a
totally different function. Video Memory is located on the graphics
card. Its function is to store images as they are processed,
accelerating processing time by freeing
RAM and the
processor to perform other tasks.
Unlike
RAM video memory is not
upgradeable. You may also see something called shared video memory. This
is where the video memory also uses some of the
system memory to perform its
tasks. If you are a gamer or are doing heavy graphics rendering. Video
memory is going to be key in the choosing of your laptop. Please check
each program you are planning on running to see what the program
recommends then try to exceed that recommendation.
